In adolescents, common symptoms of bipolar disorder include a sad mood and sleep disturbances when they are blue, and a destructive overexcitedness when they are high. They exhibit lack of energy when depressed, and a general lack of direction when they are manic. Elderly folks are not too different. They are the ones who get the worst of physical problems. Either way you look at it, bipolar disorder is a destructive syndrome that should be addressed pretty fast and seriously.
You don’t have a clue what actors and celebrities have to go through. What with all the excitement around them, all the paparazzi and flashlights, all the stress of acting, sometimes shining, sometimes failing woefully. It should come as no surprise to you that a good number of them suffer from depression, or worse still, bipolar disorder. And that is why so many of them die so young and at the peak of their careers.
The culture you live in, or the one that you come from may have a way of influencing the way you manifest the signs of bipolar disorder. There are some cultures in which a lot of activity does not really go on. Coming from somewhere like that, you might not be prone to too much activity even when you are manic. As such, even someone close might miss it. But it would be rather difficult to miss the depression; that shows through however.
Especially with an ailment like bipolar disorder, however bad it gets, if you are genuinely seeking healing, you can get there or at least somewhere close. There are medications that may not cure the syndrome but that will sufficiently suppress it such that you never get any spells for long periods. Some actually even put the crises to the side as long as you are taking them. Even if you have to medicate everyday for the rest of your life, you might as well stick to it: it s absolutely worth your life… your sanity.
